How to apply for an LSA student bursary

The LSA Bursary Award Scheme, which further complements the already preferential student rates, has been implemented to enable/increase undergraduate and graduate student participation in LSA 3-day conference events. The scheme awards £100 each to a pre-designated number of students who have submitted a proposal through the regular procedure and have been accepted onto the annual summer conference programme. The award is credited directly towards the conference registration fee. It applies to full conference attendance only, and there is no cash equivalent.

Rules of eligibility:
  • Provide evidence of current studentship.
  • Be endorsed by your tutor / supervisor, who must be a current LSA member in good standing.
  • Submitted a proposal through the regular conference committee procedure and have been accepted.
  • Register for and attend the full conference.
A maximum of two students per institution per summer conference may be recipients of the award.
Awardees may not  receive the bursary more than two times (e.g. in 2013 and in 2014).
Regular student registration rates apply after the maximum number of awards have been designated, so students hoping to receive the bursary award should apply early.
